About Panaco
For generations, the Palmyra has been known as a “tree of life” in Tamil communities — a tree whose many gifts have been part of everyday life for thousands of years. Its sap becomes toddy and jaggery. Its sprouts become food. Its leaves become useful everyday products. Its strong fibres find many purposes. Even after the tree has reached the end of its life, its timber can continue to serve people.
But the Palmyra represents more than what it gives us. It stands resilient through heat and drought, holds the soil with its deep roots, and has long been part of the relationship between people, land and nature. This enduring balance between people and nature is at the heart of Panaco. We believe the way we live and the things we create should not benefit people at the expense of nature — but should seek to create value for people, other living beings and the planet we all share.
Our journey begins with Palmyra handcrafts. With time, we hope to explore more natural materials, traditional knowledge and thoughtful products that carry this same spirit forward.

From the Palmyra Tree
The journey begins high among the Palmyra fronds. Carefully selected leaves are traditionally harvested and brought down from the tree, ready to begin their transformation.
Prepared by Nature
The harvested leaves are cleaned, prepared and naturally sun-dried using traditional methods. This preserves the character and strength of the Palmyra while preparing it for the hands of the artisan.
Skilled artisans transform the prepared leaves into useful and beautiful pieces through traditional handweaving. Every weave, texture and natural variation becomes part of its character.
